Terms of Use
By downloading, installing or using Octane, you agree to these terms. They're short on purpose: what matters is that you understand what the software does on your machine and who is responsible for what.
This is a courtesy translation. Octane is operated from Brazil and these documents are governed by Brazilian law; if the English and Portuguese versions ever differ, the Portuguese version prevails. You can switch to it in the footer.
1. What Octane is
Octane is an app for Windows 10 and 11 that diagnoses the system, applies performance tweaks, removes preinstalled apps and frees up disk space. It is independent software, with no relationship to, sponsorship by or approval from Microsoft.
2. License to use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Octane. You may not resell the app, charge for it, redistribute modified versions or work around the limits of the free plan.
3. Account
Using Octane requires an account, which is also what recognizes who has a paid plan. You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for what happens on your account. We may suspend accounts used for fraud, abuse or attempts to get around payment.
4. Licenses and payment
The free plan keeps working with no time limit. The paid license (currently, Pro) is charged through Stripe, at the price shown at the time of purchase, as a one-time payment. There is no subscription, no automatic renewal and nothing to cancel later: the license does not expire.
Prices may change at any time, but a change never affects a license you have already bought. A new purchase never downgrades the license you already have: the highest tier always applies.
5. Right of withdrawal and refunds
Under the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code, purchases made here can be canceled within 7 days of the purchase date, with a full refund. Just write to contato@octaneoptimizer.com.
6. Responsible use and risks
Octane changes Windows settings, and it does so with safeguards: each tweak saves the original value, goes into the history and can be reverted, and a system restore point is created before the first change.
Even so, some actions are irreversible by nature and the app warns you when that's the case: file cleanup and the removal of built-in apps are not recorded in the history and cannot be undone. Check what is selected before confirming. Keep backups of what matters to you.
You agree not to use Octane to:
- modify computers you are not authorized to modify;
- violate the usage policies of your workplace or institution;
- reverse engineer the app in order to get around license checks.
7. Updates
The app checks for updates when it opens and periodically, and always asks for your confirmation before installing. Features may be added, changed or removed over time.
8. Warranties
Octane is provided "as is". We do not guarantee any specific performance gain, compatibility with every hardware and software setup, or uninterrupted operation. Consumer rights provided by law remain in force and nothing here sets them aside.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect damages, lost profits or data loss resulting from use of the app. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for Octane in the 12 months before the event.
10. Termination
You can stop using and uninstall Octane at any time. We may end access for anyone who breaches these terms; where applicable, the amount paid for the license is refunded.
11. Privacy
How we handle data is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, and the courts of the consumer's place of residence have jurisdiction over any dispute.
