Octane is an optimizer that runs on your machine. Almost everything it does, diagnostics, tweaks, cleanup and history, happens locally and never leaves your PC. This page says exactly what does leave, why, and what you can do about it.
This is a courtesy translation. Octane is operated from Brazil and these documents are governed by Brazilian law; if the English and Portuguese versions ever differ, the Portuguese version prevails. You can switch to it in the footer.
Summary
- No telemetry in the app. The app doesn't send usage statistics, doesn't track what you optimize and has no built-in analytics. This website, separately, counts visits in aggregate, and section 9 says exactly what.
- Your system data doesn't leave your machine. Diagnostics, score, program list, change history and backups are kept in local files.
- An account is required. Octane asks you to sign in to open, and what we keep from that is the minimum: your email and the state of your plan.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store card details.
1. Who we are
Octane is independent software for Windows 10 and 11, with no affiliation with Microsoft. For privacy matters, contact contato@octaneoptimizer.com.
2. What stays only on your computer
This data is read and written on your own PC, in the app's data folder, and is not sent to us or to third parties:
- hardware and system information used in the diagnostic and the performance score (processor, memory, disk, network, Windows version);
- the list of installed programs, startup items and services, used by the Optimization, Startup and Debloat pages;
- the change history and the backups of each applied tweak, which are exactly what lets you revert any change;
- your app preferences, such as language and theme.
Uninstalling Octane or deleting that folder erases this data for good. Since it never reached us, there is no copy on our side to ask us to delete.
3. What we collect when you create an account
An account is required to use Octane, and it's what recognizes who has a paid plan. When you sign in with email and password, we receive your email address. When you sign in with Google or Discord, we receive what those services provide at sign-in: email, display name and profile picture. We don't ask for access to anything beyond that, and we don't read your contacts, files, messages or servers.
We also keep the state of your license: whether it's free or Pro, and whether it's active or revoked.
We also keep the last day you opened the app: a single date per account, rewritten at most once a day. It helps us understand whether Octane is still in use and lets support know how long an account has been inactive. We don't record what you do inside the app, or your IP.
This data is stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, which processes it on our behalf.
4. Payment
Purchases are processed by Stripe. Card details are typed directly into Stripe's environment: they don't pass through Octane and are never stored by us. From the payment, we keep only the Stripe customer ID linked to your account, to know which license belongs to whom, and the result of the charge.
5. What we use it for
- authenticating you and keeping your session;
- unlocking the features of the license you bought;
- processing payments and refunds;
- replying when you contact support.
We don't sell, rent or share your data with third parties for advertising, and we don't do profiling or make automated decisions about you.
6. Who we share it with
Only with the providers needed for the service to work, and only what each one needs:
- Supabase, account authentication and database;
- Stripe, payment processing;
- Vercel, hosting of this website and aggregate audience statistics (see section 9);
- GitHub, distribution of the installer and updates.
We may also disclose data if we are legally required to. Some of these providers are outside Brazil, so your account data may be processed abroad.
7. How long we keep it
Account data is kept for as long as the account exists. When you delete it, we remove your email, profile and plan; billing records are kept for the period required by tax law, under Stripe's responsibility.
8. Your rights
Under Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD), you can request access, correction, portability or deletion of your data, and withdraw consent. Write to contato@octaneoptimizer.com and we'll reply within 15 days. To delete your account, just ask at that same address.
9. Cookies and measurement on this website
This website uses five things, all first-party and none for advertising:
- the session cookie, which keeps you signed in, and the ones Stripe needs during checkout;
- audience statistics from Vercel (Web Analytics and Speed Insights), which count visits, where they came from and page speed in aggregate, with no cookie and without identifying you;
- a cookie called octane_ref, which stores for 90 days where you came from, the address that brought you, or the site that had the link. It tells us which promotions work. It doesn't store your IP, what you searched for or anything that identifies you; if you create an account, it's linked to it only as “this account came from here”.
- a cookie called octane_afiliado, set only when you open a link from someone in our affiliate program. It stores for 90 days only that link's code, so that if you buy, the sale is credited to whoever referred you. The affiliate only sees how many sales they made, never who bought.
- a cookie called octane_lang, set only when you pick a language in the footer. It stores for one year only the language you chose (Portuguese or English), so the site opens in it next time. Without it, the language comes from your browser settings, read on each visit and not stored.
There are no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking, and none of this follows you outside this site. Clearing your browser cookies removes octane_ref, octane_afiliado and octane_lang at any time.
10. Children
Octane is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from that age group.
11. Changes to this policy
If something changes, we update this page and the date at the top. Changes that matter to account holders are announced by email, and they never apply retroactively to data already collected.
